After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Betsy spent two years teaching in Bulgaria as a Peace Corps Volunteer. She now lives in Redwood City, California.
This website is a compilation of her work which is expanding everyday. She exhibits photographs from Bulgaria and San Francisco at City Art Gallery in the Mission District of San Francisco. In April 2003 Betsy won a first place award in the Sierra Club/East Bay Chapter photo contest for her photograph "Egret." In 2004 her work appeared in a Bulgaria guide book published in France. Her work appeared in the 2005 International Peace Corps Calendar featuring images by Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, compiled by the RPCVs of Madison, Wisconsin. The image sparked much dialogue after a Bulgarian tabloid commented on the photo, leaving Betsy to seek feedback from people far and wide. She wrote about her experience with photography in Bulgaria in the May 2005 issue of eConnections produced by the NorCalPCA. In the Spring of 2005, her piece "Piercing Warmth" was selected for the cover of DePaul University's Poetry East.
Betsy continues to seek new and interesting projects.
